Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Halifax, you must be at least 21 years of age, though this may vary depending on the vehicle selected, with possible extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving license appropriate to the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with valid payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Halifax office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Halifax, conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as received, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected, as refueling charges will apply for lower levels. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless supplementary coverage is acquired. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls to you, irrespective of insurance provisions.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the booking type and the notice period provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive it is prohibited. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and it is important to adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by relevant law in Halifax, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount you paid in the past year. This limitation does not apply to claims related to personal injury or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
